Who is your ideal reader?

Are you a reader, someone who has always loved books? Perhaps you have always carried a secret longing to be the person on the other side of that process too? If you have always wanted to write a book, you are not alone, more than 80% of people say that they dream of writing a book one day.

Most of those never even start, and even fewer finish.

There are so many reasons that people hold this dream so close though. Many people believe that they don’t have anything worth sharing, others believe they aren’t clever enough, or their writing isn’t a high enough standard.

I’m here to blow apart some of those myths for you.

Anyone can write a book. Anyone.

Where should you start?

Many of us will have written little books when we were children, so actually we have already written a book.

You might say, that doesn’t count, no one read it and it was only a few pages long. That might be true, but it doesn’t make it any less of a book. A book isn’t defined by its audience. Take a moment and think about what you would write if you had no fears, no insecurities and nothing could stop you?

Perhaps you have a life experience that you think might help others, a rare skill that you would like to share or very specific knowledge of an aspect of your work. Whatever you want to write about it has to come from passion. Writing a book is hard. There is no getting around it, you are going to put your heart and soul into this project. You need to really want it.

This might surprise you

You will hear lots of writers telling you that you need to know who you are writing for, work out their age, interests, reading level etc. It’s all good advice, we give that advice in THE BOOK FORGE.

There is someone more important than any target market that you are writing this book for though.

You.

What most of our community don’t realise when they join us is that they haven’t jumped in to craft a masterpiece, they have joined us in order to heal. To heal difficult parts of their life, emotions they buried long ago. To prove to that inner voice that they can. They join in order to learn and share wisdom and end up learning far more than they anticipated.

You are always writing for yourself primarily

Whatever you write whether it is a shopping list, a journal entry, a card, letter, poem, blog or a book, the first and most important person you are writing for, is you.

You will learn things about yourself during the writing process that you never could have imagined. You will learn determination, tenacity, an inner confidence and you may unearth some memories you had hidden long ago in a box marked “deal with later”. All these things will allow to grow and heal and become a bigger, brighter version of yourself than you ever dreamed could exist.

This incredible transformation cannot happen if you hire a ghost writer, or is you ask AI to write your book. It only happens when you sit with a pen and paper or a keyboard, and you put in the slow, beautiful work of writing a book.

Join us if you feel the pull towards a calm, compassionate, creative space to learn and develop as a writer. We’d love to see where it takes you.
